Tips To Fix A Frozen Windows 10 Taskbar!

When your Windows 10 taskbar is not working or responding, which can be clearly shown when its symptoms like icons not showing up, keyboard shortcuts not working, or clicking on the taskbar but having no effect start appearing on your device.

Now the Windows 10 taskbar might be frozen on your screen for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons might be-

1) When your device has an incomplete operating system update, the taskbar might not function properly.

2) Whenever your device has to face an update bug, the proper functioning of the taskbar stops.

3) Corrupted system files on your device might also cause the taskbar not to respond.

4) If there are any corrupted use of account files present on your device, the taskbar of your device might at abnormally.

Now let’s have a look at the various solutions that we can opt-in in order to delete the problem of a frozen taskbar on your Windows 10 device.

Solution 1- Try using task manager to restart your Windows explorer.

Whenever the task manager of your device is not working, you can try utilizing your task manager to restart the Windows Explorer. The steps to do so are mentioned below-

Step 1- Start your device. Now in order to open the task manager press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys on your keyboard at once.

Step 2- Once the task manager of the device has opened, click on the option of more details present on your screen in order to see all the tabs working.

Step 3- Now amongst all the tabs, select the processes tab and then click on the Windows Explorer option to move forward.

Step 4- Now since we have already selected the option of Windows Explorer, click restart present at the bottom of your window.

Now try restarting or rebooting your computer to see whether the frozen taskbar has started to work or not. If still, it is not working, try the next step.

Solution 2- Try running an SFC scan.

if the above method of using task manager to restart Windows explorer did not work try running an SFC scan on your device in order to remove the freezing taskbar error. The steps to do so are mentioned below.

Step 1- In order to open the power user menu, press the Windows key and X key on your keyboard at once.

Step 2- A run dialogue box will appear in front of you. in that run dialogue box enter the command of sfc/scannow. After you have entered this command, hit enter key on your keyboard or click on ok in order to execute your command.

Once you have completed this process, try checking your taskbar and see if it works. If not follow the next step.

Solution 3- Try using PowerShell on your device.

If the above method of running a of sfc scan did not work on your device try using powershell. 

This process has two parts. in the first part, you have to enable the Windows firewall, and in the second part, you have to execute the command. The steps to both the parts are mentioned below-

Step 1- Start your device. Now in order to open the task manager press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys on your keyboard at once.

Step 2- Once the task manager of the device has opened, click on the option of more details present on your screen in order to see all the tabs working.

Step 3- Now select the services tab amongst all the others, and under the section of name, search for mpssvc i.e. the Windows firewall.

Step 4- While you are looking for that name, make sure that the Open service’s icon is displayed right next to it. In any case, if the icon is not displayed next to it, right-click on it and select the option to start.

Step 5- Now in order to open the power user menu, press the Windows key and X key on your keyboard at once.

Step 6- A run dialogue box will appear in front of you. in that run dialogue box enter the command powershell. After you have entered this command, hit enter key on your keyboard or click on ok in order to execute your command.

Step 7- At the prompt now type the following commands and then press enter to execute them.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Solution 4- Try running the DISM image management command.

Step 1- In order to open the task manager press ctrl+shift+esc.

Step 2- Now select the option of the file followed by selecting the option to run a new task.

Step 3- Type explorer in the new task dialogue box that appears in front of you and then click on ok.

Step 4- Inside file explorer open the folder C:\Windows\System32.

Step 5- Now find cmd.exe in that folder and right-click on it.

Step 6- A dropdown menu will appear in front of you. Select the option to run as an administrator followed by clicking on yes.

Step 7- In the next prompt window type, Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and then hit enter.

Solution 5- Try disabling all the recently opened items.

Step 1- Press windows and I keys on your keyboard at once in order to open settings.

Step 2- Select the option of personalization followed by choosing the start option present on the left column of your screen.

Step 3- Now slide the option to off for show recently opened items in jump lists on start or the taskbar.

Solution 6- Try enabling the user manager.

This can be done by pressing Windows and R keys on your keyboard. A run dialogue box will appear in which you have to type services.msc and then hit enter.

Under the name section double click on the user manager option and then from the startup type menu, select the option of automatic and then click on ok. 

Now try restarting your computer and see when the problem that you were facing is solved or not.
